A big well done to all of our new primary one pupils who had a fantastic two days in school this week. We are very impressed with how quickly the children have started to settle into school life at Bankhead. Thank you to all parents and carers for your patience and understanding of the arrangements for the children starting school and entering the building. We appreciate that this is not what you envisioned your child’s first day at school to look like and we hope the photos that were sent home served as a small keepsake of this special milestone.
Please could we ask that any children who have not already brought in a pair of soft shoes to wear inside school, do so as soon as possible? Thank you. We would also be grateful if all items belonging to your child – i.e. jumpers, jackets, blazers, shoes, bags, water bottles, packed lunch boxes, wallets, etc – could please be labelled, as this helps us to return any items that are misplaced more easily. As you may already be aware, the children can bring in a bottle of water to drink throughout the day in class in order to stay hydrated – this is especially advised during the hot weather. You may also wish to send in another drink – a bottle or carton of juice, etc – for your child to drink outside at playtime too.
In the coming week, we will ask parents to order their child’s school lunch in the morning when dropping off in the playground. After this, from Monday, 24th August – we will ask the children to order lunch themselves inside the classroom. Please can you discuss the lunch choices with your child each morning before school, in order to ensure that there is something on the menu that he/she likes to eat. Alternatively, your child may bring a packed lunch to school. We have attached a copy of the Summer Lunch menu and the dates for each week of the three week cycle below.
Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher(s) with any further questions or concerns – either by phoning the school office or in writing.
We hope that you all have a restful weekend.
Kind regards,
Mrs Alexander, Mrs Murray and Mrs Stevenson
P1 Class Teachers.
