Good morning parents and carers,
I hope that you are all well. Yesterday we had a busy start to the week! One of the highlights of our day was our Numeracy session where we were learning about 2D shape. We recapped on the shapes that some of us could remember from previous learning and we also explored some new ones - such as pentagons, hexagons, heptagons and octagons. We discussed the properties of shapes and looked at the number of sides and corners each one had.
We made 2D shape models from lollipop sticks and also practised our (safe) cutting skills whilst identifying and matching shapes.
Please feel free to ask your child if they can tell you about the following shapes and their properties, at home - circle, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, oval, semi-circle and rhombus.
Kind regards,
Mrs Alexander
Room 4 teacher (Mondays and Tuesdays).
