Christmas Fair - Toy Stall

✨ Toy Stall! We Need Your Help! ✨

Our Christmas Fair is just around the corner, and we’re getting ready for one of the most loved stalls — the Toy Stall!

We’re on the lookout for good-quality, pre-loved toys, games and puzzles.

If your children have outgrown some of their favourites, why not pass them on? It’s a lovely way to recycle and support our school at the same time. ❤️

Donations can be dropped off at the school office for the attention of Mrs Urquhart.
We would be grateful if you could  make sure all items are clean and in good condition.

Thank you so much for your support!

Read and Write Toolbar Drop In Sessions - Thursday 6th November

During Parents' Night on Thursday 6th November, Mrs Urquhart will be offering drop in sessions for using the Read and Write Toolbar.

The Read&Write toolbar is a helpful piece of software designed to support students with reading, writing, and research tasks, and it can be a great tool for promoting independence and confidence, especially for children with learning differences like dyslexia or for EAL learners.
It works as a floating toolbar that integrates with popular programs like Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and web browsers.

If you would be interested in attending one of these sessions please complete the Google Form below.

Homework Information

Hi

This week we are introducing the sounds 'p' and 'n' as well as the common words 'I, go, no, into, the, to'. The children will come home with flashcards with all taught sounds and common words.  Please can you cut these and use them regularly at home.  They do not need to come back to class.  We will be revising these every day in class but the more these are revised at home the more familiar with the sounds and words the children will become which will help when we begin using reading books.  Please revise the letter sound, name and action as shown on the card for example 'a,A, ants crawling on my arm'.

In numeracy, we are learning about ordinal numbers.  A homework task is coming home today based on this.

Thanks for all your support.

Room 1 Week Beginning 3-11-25

Good Morning,
I hope you enjoyed your weekend.  I can not believe we are into November!

This week we are introducing the sounds 'p' and 'n' as well as the common words 'I, go, no, into, the, to'.  I am sending home flashcards with all taught sounds and common words.  Please can you cut these and use them regularly at home.  They do not need to come back to class.  We will be revising them every day in class but the more your child uses them the more familiar they will become with them which will help when we begin using reading books.  Please revise the letter sound, name and action as shown on the card for example 'a,A, ants crawling on my arm'.

In numeracy we are learning about ordinal numbers.  A homework task is coming home today based on this.

Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday.  Please send your child wearing appropriate clothing and footwear and jewellery should be removed.

Our Parents' Evening is taking place on Thursday.  Bookings close today.  If you are having any problems accessing the booking link through Parent Portal please contact the office.  Appointments are allocated for a set time and are for 7 minutes.

Today a sample of work is being sent home in a poly pocket.  This work is yours to keep however there is a return slip in the pack for any comments you have.  If you have any concerns you would like to discuss at Parents' Evening you could add them there.

Bankie Bargains will be running on Thursday morning.  Please send any money in a wallet/purse/envelope as each week there are loose coins found in the cloakroom and it is difficult to return them to the correct person.

Have a lovely week and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday.
Regards,
Mrs Stevenson

House Assembly 7th November 2025

Dear all,
This Friday, the 7th of November will be a House Assembly for the school and all children are invited to come to school wearing their house colour.  Therefore, if you are in
Stonelaw = red
Overtoun = green
Avonbank = blue
Ruglen = yellow
Please  note that this is only if the children wish to wear their colour and if they already have something at home of their house colour. If not, then please wear uniform as normal. Also, please note that there is no need to bring any donation for this.

Many thanks
